We are home

Well we came home tonight right around five. It is nice to be home and not bugged constantly by nurses. With having a c-section they bug you twice as much checking vitals incision etc... Well, I have to say so far I am wondering why in the heck I ever had the kids vaginally. Don’t get me wrong I am still in pain but I can handle it a lot better then what I had down going on down there with the other kids. The nurses were surprised at how well I was doing and moving around. Anywho, I will give a few details of the last few days. After Carsten was born…oh by the way his full name we decided today is Carsten Darell Cluff, Darell is Brendan’s middle name and Carsten’s great grandpa’s name so it is special :) Well after he was born he was showing symptoms in his lungs that he was actually a week earlier then we thought so he is considered a preemie. Instead of two weeks he was three weeks early. Well he had some problems with breathing. He was and still is breathing a little faster than normal. He didn’t really have any problems until that night at about 1 in the morning they did some oxygen level tests and he was a little low so the put him in the Special Care Nursery (ICU for that hospital) to keep watch and did a chest x-ray that showed a little junk in the bottom of his right lung. So he was in there for the day till about 5:00 pm. They gave him a second x-ray at 3 that day and it pretty much looked the same. They were thinking of putting him on some antibiotics but the Ped. Dr. said he wasn’t too concerned and it wasn’t showing he had pneumonia or anything so he let him come stay with us in our room which was nice :) They kept a close eye on him for the night and his O2 levels were staying good. Well, the Ped. Dr. came in that morning and said he wasn’t to concerned and that he could get his circumcision (which was a good sign he was doing well to be able to have the surgery) He said he felt comfortable with us leaving today or tomorrow so we just had to wait for my Doc to come in a check me and now we are home sweet home and Carsten seems to still be doing well. Still breathing fast but we are keeping a close eye on him. Here are some pics and video of him. The one close up is after Brendan washed his hair today and gave him a mohawk and the other one I am sure you can tell is him all bundled and ready to go. The video is one we took tonight. He is wide eyed and bushy tailed and we almost got a smile :) Sorry the video isn't that great of quality :S

P.S. I highly recommend having a baby at Banner Gateway it is a wonderful, brand new hospital. LOVED it!

He is so precious. Congrats Katie!! Just remember to keep a pillow near by to hold against your tummy when you cough or sneeze. When I had my C-section that was the main thing that hurt really bad. Glad you are doing well. HE IS SO CUTE!!!
